Jalousie Window Repair
Stuck cranks, loose clips and cracked louvers on the glass windows older Oahu houses still run on.
More on Jalousie Window Repair →The rain gauge here averages 69.5 inches a year. The one at the Honolulu Zoo gets 25.0. That difference ends up in door jambs, window joints and grout lines, and those are the repairs we handle from Heeia to Kahaluu.

One visit can cover several items. These six are the ones Honolulu homes ask about most; the full list sits further down the homepage.

The bulk of the ZIP: older detached streets, some apartment buildings, and the bay along one edge.
The most owner-held of the group. Fewer than one home in ten is rented, and about half went up before 1970.
Younger. Only about a quarter predates 1970, and a little over half the homes are detached houses.
Small and mostly detached, with roughly a third of homes rented, a higher share than in town.
A house here mostly needs water kept out and moving parts kept moving. The local rain gauge, at 200 feet, averages 69.5 inches a year, and windward lowland humidity sits around 70 to 80 percent. So the usual calls are exterior caulk that has let go around a window or door frame, jalousie louvers that never sealed against driven rain to begin with, and wood doors swelling at the head jamb. A little under half the homes predate 1970, which brings original hinges, tired strike plates and old painted trim into the mix. Inside, a slow drip under the kitchen sink can wreck a cabinet floor without anyone noticing, so we check there too.

Mostly detached, mostly owned. Census estimates count 11,931 housing units in the Kaneohe CDP, about two in three of them detached houses, with only one household in four renting. Age is mixed: a little under half the homes predate 1970, and roughly one in ten went up in 2000 or later. Big buildings are a small slice, about one unit in nine.
For the work, that means owners who stay put and plan repairs ahead, and plenty of houses old enough for original door hardware and paint from before 1978. Heeia next door skews older and Ahuimanu younger, so we ask the year built before quoting.

Redo it when the bead has cracked, pulled loose or gone hard, because caulk is a maintenance item and not a seal for the life of the house. Most failures trace back to poor surface prep or the wrong product. The fix is unglamorous: the old bead comes out completely, the joint is cleaned and dried, and any gap more than half an inch wide or deep gets foam backer rod before new caulk goes in. With this much rain, finding a dry day is half the scheduling.
Kailua is a short run down the coast. The Honolulu side, Mililani in the middle of the island and Kapolei out west are on the list too; tell us where the house is and the quote spells out the trip.
